Spencer Wood - Alpine

Spencer's Profile

Team Years: 2

Classification: LW6/8-2

Spencer first tried skiing at the young age of 2, began racing at the age of 5 and recently started to race in para alpine. In the womb, Spencer suffered from a left-brain stroke that resulted in hemiplegia (paralysis) of the right side of the body. Wood began competing in USSA races when he was around 7 or 8 years of age and fell in love with the sport. He was later introduced to Para skiing by his racing coaches and at first was hesitant but once he saw how fast mono skiers could go and it changed how he viewed the sport and his own impairment. Spencer also competed at the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.
