SkiTAM 2012 was another resounding success! Against the scenic backdrop of Vail, Colorado, over 1,000 industry executives enjoyed superior networking opportunities, great family ski events and beautiful, summer-like weather. And, most importantly, once all the figures were tallied last Saturday night, the event had raised $1 million dollars to support the training and coaching of America’s finest Paralympic athletes.
“The entire team at Adaptive Spirit is overwhelmed at the continuing support that our industry gives to these athletes,” said Steve Raymond of Disney & ESPN Media Networks and co-chair of SkiTAM. “The cable industry continues to demonstrate an amazing dedication to this cause.”
This year’s event kicked off with a packed house at the Executive Marketing Panel on Thursday afternoon, moderated by Rich Maraschi, IBM Global Lead, Business Analytics, and featuring Marissa Freeman, SVP Brand Strategy & Marcom, Time Warner Cable, Mark Greatrex, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Cox Communications, Brian Hunt, SVP Marketing & Sales Strategy, NBCUniversal and Allan Samson, SVP Marketing, Charter Communications.
As always, the true stars of the weekend were the amazing and inspiring athletes of the U.S. National Paralympic Ski Team, including members of an Alpine Team that now rank number one in the world! The team took home 12 medals and the Nation’s Cup at the recent World Cup competition in Winter Park, Colorado, including three gold medals for Alana Nichols.
This was the 17th year for SkiTAM and by all accounts, the event has literally helped to grow the team by providing the necessary financing to keep the athletes in training.
“SkiTAM has been a huge part of growing the sport and the team – both on the Nordic and Alpine sides,” said Kelly Underkofler, a decorated biathlete with U.S. National Paralympic Ski Team.
Adaptive Spirit’s SkiTAM will return next year, April 4 – 7, 2013 in Vail, Colorado.
